Jesus performed many miracles during his earthly ministry, as recorded in the four Gospels of the New Testament. These miraculous signs demonstrated Jesus’ divine nature and power as the Son of God. Here is an overview of some of the major miracles performed by Jesus:
Turning water into wine (John 2:1-11)
This was the first of Jesus’ miraculous signs, performed at a wedding feast in Cana of Galilee. When the wine ran out, Jesus instructed the servants to fill six stone water jars with water. When a servant drew from one of the jars, the water had been turned into wine. This sign displayed Jesus’ power over nature.

Healing a paralytic (Mark 2:1-12)
Four men brought a paralyzed man to Jesus by lowering him through a roof, due to the crowds. Jesus healed the man by telling him his sins were forgiven and to pick up his mat and walk, which he did. This miracle displayed Jesus’ power to forgive sins.
Healing a man’s withered hand (Mark 3:1-6)

Two blind men approached Jesus, asking for mercy. Jesus touched their eyes and immediately their sight was restored. This miracle displayed Jesus’ compassion on the blind.
Feeding the 5,000 (Mark 6:30-44)
A huge crowd gathered to hear Jesus teach, and had no food. The disciples found five loaves and two fish, which Jesus blessed. All 5,000 people ate until satisfied, with 12 baskets leftover. This miracle displayed Jesus’ divine provision.
Walking on water (Matthew 14:22-33)
Jesus’ disciples were in a boat when they saw Jesus walking on the water toward them, during a storm. When Peter faltered while walking toward Jesus, He saved him and calmed the storm. This miracle displayed Jesus’ power over nature.
Healing a deaf and mute man (Mark 7:31-37)
A deaf man with a speech impediment was brought to Jesus. He healed the man’s ears, restoring his hearing and speech. This miracle displayed Jesus’ power over illness and disabilities.
Healing a blind man (Mark 8:22-26)
Jesus encountered a blind man in Bethsaida and spit on the man’s eyes, laying His hands on him. The man could then see partially. After Jesus laid His hands on the man again, his sight was fully restored. This miracle displayed a rare gradual healing.
Catching a fish with money (Matthew 17:24-27)
When asked if Jesus paid the temple tax, He instructed Peter to go fishing, saying he would find a coin in the first fish he caught. Peter found the coin and Jesus used it to pay the tax for both of them. This miracle displayed Jesus’ authority over nature and provision.
Healing a man born blind (John 9:1-41)
Jesus encountered a man blind since birth, and spat on the ground to make clay, which He spread on the man’s eyes. After washing in the Pool of Siloam, the man was healed. This miracle caused much religious controversy.
Raising Lazarus (John 11:1-44)
Jesus’ friend Lazarus had died and been buried four days already when He arrived in Bethany. Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead through prayer. This astonishing miracle displayed Jesus’ power over death.
Healing 10 lepers (Luke 17:11-19)
Ten lepers approached Jesus asking for mercy. He told them to show themselves to the priests. As they went, they were all healed, but only one returned to glorify God. This miracle displayed God’s cleansing power.
Healing a blind and mute demoniac (Matthew 12:22)

The second catch of fish (John 21:1-14)
After Jesus’ resurrection, He met the disciples who were fishing but caught nothing all night. At His instruction, they cast their nets and caught 153 large fish. This miracle confirmed that Jesus was alive.
The resurrection (Matthew 28; Mark 16; Luke 24; John 20)
After Jesus was crucified and buried for three days, He rose from the dead, leaving behind an empty tomb. He began appearing to His disciples and others, proving He had overcome death.
These miraculous signs marked Jesus’ ministry and revealed His true identity and purpose to the world. They demonstrated His power and authority over nature, sickness, death, provision, disabilities, and the spiritual realm. The miracles of Jesus authenticated His claims to be the Son of God and Savior of the world.
Jesus performed many other miraculous acts that are not recorded in the Gospels (John 21:25). The ones included give testimony to His identity as the Christ and Son of God (John 20:30-31). Those who witnessed these miracles were faced with the decision to either believe or reject Jesus’ divine claims. The same choice stands for all people today regarding what to do with the accounts of Jesus’ miracles and essential message.
